Our Story
In Short
As software becomes more complex and less reliable, people often have to deal with clunky UX and long input lag.
We strongly believe software should be easy to use, fast and reliable, no matter how complex.
We founded Clever Thinking Software with one goal in mind: reverse the trend and make fast, intuitive apps.
As we’ve grown, we’ve expanded this vision to help businesses create custom software solutions that embody these same principles.
The Story
After COVID hit, it was obvious that business would never be the same. Some companies recovered, many sank.
Late 2023, we were both out of work. Our respective employers had decided to cut their IT budget, and us with it.
We had savings, ideas and time. And so we set ourselves two goals: start a business and make apps people will love.
Our first order of business was to find better ways to deal with common tasks, such as managing addresses.
The second idea was to create the Tetris of stock trading. Paper Trade was born.
As our apps gained traction, we discovered something interesting: businesses were approaching us not just for mobile apps, but for our approach to software development. They were tired of bloated, slow systems too.
By early 2025, we realized our philosophy could extend beyond consumer apps to transform how businesses operate internally.
In March 2025, we officially expanded Clever Thinking Software to offer IT and AI consulting, production pipeline engineering, and cutting-edge generative imaging services.
The Problem
We all know somebody who struggles with their phone or computer.
Sometimes using these devices can be challenging, confusing and even infuriating.
Even with all the good intentions in the world, some of the most popular apps remain unintuitive.
We’ve found that businesses face the same issues with their internal software and data pipelines—complexity that hampers rather than helps.
Overall, software is getting worse, and nobody seems to care. But we do.
The Solution
We set out to go against this trend, and produce a collection of apps that put simplicity, speed and reliability front and center.
Every app we craft has to meet the following criteria:
- Respect the single responsibility principle (one task, one app).
- Offer one-touch access to core functionality.
- Exhibit the lowest input lag possible.
- Utilize a layout adapted to all eyesights and finger sizes.
- Maximize positive interaction effectiveness.
- Minimize unwanted interactions (accidental taps).
Whether we’re building a mobile app for consumers or engineering a data pipeline for enterprises, these principles guide everything we do.
Milestones
Early 2024, Dexter Santucci and Nicolas Theraulaz partner up to write better apps for the iPhone.
June 2024, Clever Thinking Software Inc. is founded, showcasing one app and one game.
Maps Address Book was released worldwide on August 15th 2024.
Paper Trade is scheduled for release later this year.
March 2025, we expanded our services to include IT/AI Consulting, Production Pipeline Engineering, and Advanced Imaging Services.
April 2025, we completed our first comprehensive IT audit for SMAAART, a French computer refurbishing company. We evaluated their internal IT processes and designed a complete custom software suite to address their business management and hardware auditing needs.
Looking Forward
We are looking forward to make more apps. We have a few projects worthy of your attention:
- Better Favorites – a much improved alternative to the iPhone’s contact manager.
- Simpler Camera – a camera app specifically designed for those who find the default camera app too complicated.
And we’re equally excited about our business services growth:
- Expanding our IT and AI consulting to help more businesses implement efficient automation solutions.
- Developing advanced pipeline engineering tools that can be customized for various industries.
- Creating next-generation imaging solutions that leverage the latest advancements in generative AI.
Our mission remains the same, whether we’re building consumer apps or enterprise solutions: make software that’s fast, intuitive, and reliable—software that works for people, not against them.
